Crocker is a publication about art, design and the people who make things by hand. We are interested in galleries and what they choose to show, in studios and how work actually gets made in them, in objects that were designed rather than merely produced, and in the slow habit of collecting.
An important clarification
This domain previously hosted the website of the Crocker Galleria, a shopping centre in San Francisco. The Crocker Galleria is a real and still-operating business. This site is entirely unconnected to it. We are not the Crocker Galleria, we do not speak for it, we have no relationship with its owners, tenants or management, and we cannot help with enquiries meant for them: not lost property, not opening hours, not leasing, not events, not deliveries. If you have arrived here looking for the shopping centre, please search for it directly and contact it through its own channels. We are sorry for the detour, and we mention it here rather than bury it because people do arrive that way.

Who writes it
Articles appear under the byline The Crocker Desk. We publish as an editorial team, and every piece is read by someone other than its writer before it goes out.
How we work
We go and look. Where a piece is written from a press release or a photograph rather than a visit, we say so. We name the maker, the gallery and, where it is known, the date and the materials, because accuracy is the least a subject is owed. We do not accept payment for coverage, and where a trip, a stay or an object has been provided to us, that is disclosed in the article. Opinions are marked as opinions. Corrections are made in the piece and acknowledged there.
